From 2007-2009, I directed media and learning design for Sun Microsystem's Learning Services organization. My award-winning learning programs included the Sun New Hire Experience, the Selling Business Value eLearning program, as well as the Sun Open Learning Center for System Administrators. My design work emphasizes highly interactive, visually rich, and learner-centered approaches to instruction.
At Sun I spearheaded the use of social learning and wrote an instructional model for the design of collaborative learning environments.
Over my more than 15-year career as a learning specialist, I have developed open source and free web-based game building software, authored articles and white-papers on the effective use of game-based learning, and presented at prominent national conferences on the use of gaming and immersive technology in education. The recipient of collaboration and innovation awards for my work in learning design, I also serve on the board of the North American Simulation and Gaming Association (NASAGA).
